Room of the Three-mullioned Window
The one known as the "three-mullioned window" room takes its name from the only window in Castel del Monte with three side-by-side openings and two overlapping ones, inserted inside a pointed arch in the external façade. The three-mullioned window, in which coral breccia and veined white marble alternate, faces north, in the direction of the city of Andria, within whose cathedral the two wives of Frederick II rest, Isabella (or Iolanda) of Brienne (died in 1228) and Isabella of England (died 1241). On the side opposite the three-lancet window, two single-lancet windows look onto the octagonal courtyard.
In the room there are capitals with crochet endings, typical of Gothic art of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. The state of abandonment in which the castle fell for a long time compromised the conservation of the ribs and the keystone. The lack of a fireplace and connections with the towers qualifies the room as a passageway environment.
