Home Route A service room

A service room

Located opposite the entrance, the room is characterized by the presence of a portal - with a pointed arch and no decorations, unlike the main one - which acts as a secondary access. The light illuminates the environment through oculi, one of which opens onto the courtyard. In the keystone of the cross we can recognize a vegetal motif with a flower with four petals.

From the hall, the upper floor and the terrace are accessible via the spiral staircase inside one of the two octagonal towers.

The absence of fireplace and toilets, together with the connections with both the outside and with the upper floor, tells us the room likely had a service function and one of connection with the different environments of Castel del Monte.

The differences between the individual rooms of the castle allow us to identify a hierarchy between them and to deduce obligatory and secondary routes.
